Tributes pour in from across country

NEW DELHI: The Indian film industry has lost one of its biggest and most loved stars. Dharmendra Kewal Krishan Deol, known to everyone as Bollywood’s “He-Man,” passed away today at the age of 89. Earlier this morning (November 24, 2025), ambulances were seen outside his home in Mumbai. Many film celebrities reached his residence to pay their respects. His family including Hema Malini, Esha Deol, along with Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, Aamir Khan, Akshay Kumar, Zayed Khan, Agatsya Nanda and Amitabh Bachchan, later arrived at the Pawan Hans crematorium in Vile Parle, Mumbai, to say their final goodbye to the legendary actor.

Filmmaker Karan Johar was one of the first people to pay a tribute to the legendary actor after his death.

Dharmendra’s family members reached the Pawan Hans crematorium to say their final goodbye. They gathered with heavy hearts to perform his last rites and honour his memory.

PM Modi leads tributes

Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to his social media account to pay tribute to Dharmendra. The PM wrote, “The passing of Dharmendra Ji marks the end of an era in Indian cinema. He was an iconic film personality, a phenomenal actor who brought charm and depth to every role he played. The manner in which he played diverse roles struck a chord with countless people. Dharmendra Ji was equally admired for his simplicity, humility and warmth. In this sad hour, my thoughts are with his family, friends and innumerable fans. Om Shanti.”

President of India remembers Dharmendra

The official account of Rashtrapati Bhavan took to social media and wrote, “The demise of veteran actor and former Member of Parliament Shri Dharmendra Ji is a great loss to Indian cinema. One of the most popular actors, he delivered numerous memorable performances during his decades-long illustrious career. As a towering figure of Indian cinema, he leaves behind a legacy which will continue to inspire young generations of artists. My heartfelt condolences to his family, friends and admirers.”

Other leaders and actors have also been paying their respects to the actor.

Amit Shah says goodbye to Dharmendra

Union Home Minister Amit Shah shared a heartfelt tribute after Dharmendra’s passing. He said that Dharmendra, who touched the hearts of every Indian with his remarkable acting for six decades, has left behind a loss that can never be filled in Indian cinema.

Shah added that Dharmendra was one of those rare actors who made every character feel alive. With his natural performances, he won the love of crores of viewers across all age groups.

Today marks the end of an era. Dharmendra’s films captured the spirit of India across decades from the romantic dreams of the 1960s. This spanned to the action-packed blockbusters of the 1970s and 1980s to the nuanced character roles of recent years.

Dharmendra left deep impression: Kharge

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday condoled the passing away of Bollywood actor Dharmendra, saying the Indian film industry has lost a precious star who ruled over the hearts of cinema lovers for decades.

Dharmendra, the star who wrote himself into showbiz legend in a 65-year career spanning 300 films ranging from “Satyakam’ to “Sholay”, died in Mumbai on Monday, police said. He was 89.

“The Indian film world has lost a precious star today. The renowned actor Dharmendra is no longer with us. Honored with the Padma Bhushan in 2012, Dharmendra reigned over the hearts of cinema lovers for decades and left a deep impression with his unparalleled acting and simple life,” Kharge said in a post in Hindi on X.

He said his passing away marks the end of an era.

“In this hour of grief, I extend my deepest condolences to his family and millions of fans. May God grant peace to his soul,” the Congress president said.
