KOLKATA: India was bundled out for 93 runs during the second innings of the first Test against South Africa at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Sunday.
The tame effort saw the side fall 31 runs short of its target of 124 runs. Simon Harmer was the best bowler for the Proteas with four wickets for 21 runs. Marco Jansen and Keshav Maharaj picked two wickets apiece.
This was India’s third-lowest score in the fourth innings of a Test match. Its lowest came in 1997 against West Indies, when it was skittled out for 81 in a chase of 120 in Bridgetown.
In 1977, India was reduced to 83 runs by England in Chennai, which is the side’s second-lowest total in the final innings.
