Srinagar Chapter of ICMAI felicitates top rankers of Kashmir Commerce Olympiad

SRINAGAR: A prestigious felicitation ceremony was organized on Tuesday by the Srinagar Chapter of the Institute of Cost Accountants of India (ICMAI) at the auditorium of S.P. Higher Secondary School, Srinagar, to honour the top rankers of the Kashmir Commerce Olympiad (KCO).

Dr. G. N. Itoo, Director General of Schools, Jammu & Kashmir, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and highlighted the significance of the Kashmir Commerce Olympiad in promoting awareness about the Cost Accountancy profession among students in Kashmir.

CMA Bashir Masoudi, Chairman of the Srinagar Chapter, in his address, presented a detailed overview of the objectives and outcomes of the Olympiad. He emphasized that the Srinagar Chapter is committed to encouraging maximum student participation in the Cost Accountancy profession, and the Kashmir Commerce Olympiad is a major step in that direction.

The Kashmir Commerce Olympiad was conducted by the Institute of Cost Accountants of India, Srinagar Chapter, in collaboration with the Directorate of School Education, Kashmir. The Olympiad included mentoring sessions and on- the-spot examinations across 17 schools, covering around 2,000 students. Nearly 500 students qualified for the Olympiad, and all were offered admission to the Cost Accountancy course with a 50% fee waiver.

During the ceremony, the top rankers were felicitated for their achievements. The first rank was secured by Ms. Suzain Ayoub of GHSS Zadibal, who received a cash prize of ₹10,000. The second rank was bagged by Ms. Falak Nisar of Zainapora, Shopian, who received ₹5,000 along with a memento and a certificate of appreciation. In total, 53 meritorious students from various schools were felicitated for their outstanding performance.

A special felicitation was also accorded to Ms. Maieda Irfan, the first female student from the Srinagar Chapter to qualify as a Cost and Management Accountant (CMA), who was honoured by the Director General of Schools.

Prof. Sangmi, former Dean of Colleges, University of Kashmir, and Mr. Ghulam Rasool Mir, Special Secretary, School Education Department, J&K, were the Guests of Honour. The Chief Education Officer (CEO) Srinagar and his team also attended the function.

The event commenced with a welcome address by CMA Mansoor Mir, and concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by CMA Mushtaq Mir, marking the end of a successful and inspiring ceremony.
