SRINAGAR: The Jammu & Kashmir National Conference General Secretary, Haji Ali Muhammad Sagar Saturday reaffirmed the party’s commitment to rebuilding Jammu and Kashmir after a “decade of developmental stagnation”. He said that the Omar Abdullah elected government is working tirelessly to reverse the setbacks of the past ten years and restore the region’s progress and dignity.

Interacting with a delegation from the Sikh Welfare Mohalla Committee, Chatti Padshahi, Rainawari, Sagar said, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir have reposed their faith in the leadership and vision of Omar Abdullah. This government is fully aware of the neglect faced in areas such as infrastructure, education, healthcare, and employment. We are determined to set things right with sincerity, speed, and transparency.”

He said that despite the short time in office, the administration has already initiated crucial development projects aimed at rebuilding broken infrastructure, strengthening public institutions, and laying down an inclusive roadmap for economic growth and youth empowerment.“From reviving long-pending development works to streamlining governance and creating livelihood opportunities, every arm of the government is working in unison to restore Jammu and Kashmir’s path to peace, dignity, and prosperity,” he added.

Sagar urged the Sikh delegation to continue supporting the government’s efforts and remain vigilant against divisive elements seeking to derail the people’s mandate for development and unity.

During the interaction, the visiting delegation raised several community-specific concerns, including the urgent need for upgraded infrastructure and the construction of a boundary wall around the local cremation ground. Sagar assured the delegation that their concerns will be duly addressed and pledged to work on them over the coming five years.

The delegation also expressed gratitude to the party leadership for nominating Shammi Oberoi to the Rajya Sabha, calling it a historic decision that would go a long way in fostering unity among communities and addressing the development deficit in the region.
