Assembly by-elections: BJP, Apni Party name candidates for Budgam, Nagrota

Srinagar: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has announced its candidate list for the upcoming Assembly by-elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
According to an official statement from the party’s central headquarters in New Delhi, Aga Syed Mohsin has been named the BJP candidate for the Budgam constituency in Jammu and Kashmir.
Devyani Rana will contest from Nagrota in Jammu and Kashmir; she is the daughter of the late Devinder Singh Rana, a prominent BJP leader and former MLA from Nagrota, who passed away in October 2024 after a prolonged illness.
Aga Syed Mohsin is a local BJP leader from the Shia community in Budgam.
Apni Party also announced its candidates for the upcoming by-elections for the Budgam and Nagrota assembly segments.
According to a press release issued here, Apni Party’s Parliamentary Affairs Committee (PAC) held a crucial meeting here to decide the candidates for the upcoming by-elections in the Budgam and Nagrota assembly segments. The meeting was presided over by PAC Chairman Mohammed Dilawar Mir. After a thorough discussion, the committee unanimously named candidates for both seats.
“Mr. Mukhtar Ahmad Dar, son of Gh. Rasool Dar and resident of Humhamma, Budgam, has been nominated as the party candidate for the 27-Budgam Assembly Constituency. Similarly, Mr. Bodraj Bhagat, son of Shanker Das and resident of Domana Machine, Jammu, has been nominated as the party candidate for the 77-Nagrota Assembly Constituency. The nominations have been recommended by the Chairman of the Parliamentary Affairs Committee (PAC), Mr. Mohammad Dilawar Mir, and approved by the Party President, Mr. Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari,” the press release added.
Besides Mohammad Dilawar Mir, the prominent party leaders who were present in the meeting included party President Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari, Senior Vice President Ghulam Hassan Mir, Vice President Javaid Mustafa Mir, Additional General Secretary Hilal Ahmad Shah, Chief Coordinator and District President Kulgam Abdul Majeed Padder, Provincial President Mohammad Ashraf Mir, Media Advisor Farooq Andrabi, President of the party’s Youth Wing Yawar Mir, District President Budgam Advocate Owais Ashraf, and others.
