SRINAGAR: Owais Ali Bhat, Director of Chanakya IAS Academy – Jammu Centre and Exceptional Academy Srinagar, and founder of the NGO Owais Ali Bhat Foundation, recently met with the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir. Accompanying him were Mr. Azhar, Director of Exceptional Academy Srinagar and a social worker. During the meeting, they briefed the LG on key issues concerning student welfare, reservations, skill development schemes, scholarships, and the alarming unemployment rate among youth in J&K, along with the scarcity of job opportunities.
Mr. Bhat also highlighted the work carried out by his foundation during the recent floods in Jammu and in Budgam district, Kashmir. He appreciated the efforts of the district administrations of Budgam and Jammu in assisting affected communities and shared insights on the hardships faced by the people.
Furthermore, Mr. Bhat expressed concerns about the rising unemployment among youth in J&K and its impact. He noted that Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha listened patiently and assured him that all issues would be addressed promptly. The LG also affirmed that his administration is working tirelessly to resolve citizens’ problems.
During the discussion, Mr. Bhat raised a significant administrative issue concerning his native area, Summer Bugh, B K Pura. He explained that B K Pura is located at the tri-junction of three districts—administratively under Budgam, with revenue records maintained by Budgam District, but law and order falling under Srinagar District. He requested that a rationalization of jurisdiction be considered to improve governance, service delivery, and grievance redressal. The LG assured him that he would look into the matter and forward it to the relevant authorities.
Mr. Azhar, who hails from Magam, also expressed gratitude to Shri Sinha for timely intervention in recent arrests of youth in Magam. He requested leniency, emphasizing that all those arrested are students, and FIRs against them could adversely affect their future careers. The LG assured that he would review the cases and extend support to safeguard their futures.
