SRINAGAR: Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K) mourns the passing of Dr. Afaq Nayar Kirmani, renowned Professor-cumChief Scientist in the Division of Soil Science, Faculty of Horticulture, Shalimar Campus.
A condolence meeting was held on October 13, 2025, at 4:00 PM in the Conference Hall of the Registrar’s Office, SKUAST-K, Shalimar Campus, chaired by Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Kashmir. Officers of the University, Head of Divisions, teaching and non-teaching staff participated in the condolence.
Vice-Chancellor paid tribute to the deceased, describing him as a noble distinguished scientist who made remarkable contributions in his field of specialization and as a man of profound faith and upright character. Various speakers on the occasion also highlighted his scientific and academic contributions in the field of GIS and remote sensing in the University.
The meeting concluded with the recitation of Fatiha for the eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed its solidarity with the family of the deceased.
