Counting on November 14
Srinagar: The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday announced the schedule for by-elections to the Budgam and Nagrota Assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir, with voting set to take place on November 11 and counting of votes on November 14.
These by-elections coincide with the Bihar Assembly elections, which will be held in two phases on November 6 and 11, with results to be declared on November 14.
In Budgam, the vacancy existed after the resignation of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who chose to retain his seat in the Ganderbal constituency.
In Nagrota, vacancy existed after the death of BJP MLA Devender Singh Rana in October last year.
The Election Commission has emphasised transparency and fairness in the electoral process, with Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trails (VVPATs) to be used in all polling stations.
