SRINAGAR: As part of the ongoing Sewa Parv and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, J&K Police conducted series of events in various police establishments across the valley.
In Baramulla, Police in collaboration with Government Degree College Pattan organized a drug awareness programme aimed at sensitizing the youth about the perils of substance abuse. The speakers highlighted the devastating physical, psychological and social consequences of drug addiction, while also underlining the collective responsibility of families, communities and law enforcement agencies in fighting the menace. Students actively engaged in the interactive sessions, pledging to play their part in spreading awareness and promoting healthy lifestyles.
In Awantipora, Police organized a Mega Anti-Drug Rally under the theme “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat.” The rally commenced from ADC Office Awantipora and culminated at the Clock Tower Awantipora. Students of different colleges and schools of Awantipora area participated in the event. During the event, officers appealed the youth, students, and the general public to join hands with Police in the fight against drug abuse and to collectively work towards eliminating this social evil from society
. Participants carried banners and placards with anti-drug messages, raised slogans against the menace of substance abuse, and pledged to contribute towards building a drug-free society. At the conclusion of the rally, a signature campaign was held at Clock Tower Awantipora, where participants signed a pledge to quit drugs and stand united against substance abuse. Moreover, a Police team along with officers from revenue department and Municipal Committee Tral destroyed wild cannabis Approx. 04 Kanals at Tral.
In Ganderbal, Police organised an awareness programme on the new criminal laws at Government Degree College, Ganderbal where 200 students participated. The programme was chaired by SSP Ganderbal, Shri Khalil Ahmad Poswal-JKPS, who highlighted the importance of familiarising the youth, particularly students, with the recent changes in criminal laws. SSP Ganderbal also distributed appreciation certificates and cash prizes among the participants and applauded their active participation in the programme. Moreover, cleanliness drive was held at District Police Headquarters Ganderbal. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation of officers and jawans, who joined hands with great zeal and dedication to promote the spirit of cleanliness.
