Army Commander reviews counter infiltration grid in Kashmir

Must read

Srinagar Northern Army Commander Lt General Pratik Sharma today reviewed the security situation and counter-infiltration grid in North Kashmir.
The Army said during his visit, he witnessed a “Battle Enabler” display and praised the personnel for their innovative approaches and adoption of niche technologies to counter contemporary threats.
“Lt Gen Pratik Sharma reviewed security situation and counter-infiltration grid in North Kashmir. During his visit, he witnessed a Battle Enabler display and lauded all ranks for their innovation and adoption of niche technologies to counter contemporary threats,” Army’s Northern command said in a post on X.
Defence sources said the review of the infiltration grid in North Kashmir, which shares the Line of Control with Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, is aimed at tightening defences before winter sets in — a period when militants traditionally attempt a pre-winter push into the Valley.
They said snow has not yet set in at high-altitude passes, and the terrain is still navigable for militants trying to cross over. Once heavy snow begins in November, infiltration routes close naturally. In August at least three infiltration attempts were foiled in Kashmir.
The security review in north Kashmir came a day after Lt General Sharma reviewed the security in South Kashmir.
