SRINAGAR: The Department of Physical Education and Sports, Amar Singh College Srinagar, proudly organized National Sports Day 2025 with great enthusiasm and participation on 29th August 2025. The celebration was marked by three major sporting events – Football, Volleyball, and Hockey – showcasing the zeal and sporting spirit of the students.
The event was inaugurated by the Worthy Principal, Prof. Ajaz Ahmad Hakak, who highlighted the significance of National Sports Day in commemorating the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand and encouraged students to uphold the values of discipline, teamwork, and fitness through active participation in sports.
The programme was conducted under the supervision of Dr. Khursheed (Convenor, Sports Committee) and Dr. Tanveer Ahmed Bhat, Head of the Department of Physical Education and Sports. Both appreciated the enthusiastic response of the students and reaffirmed the department’s commitment to providing a vibrant sporting culture at the college.
The matches witnessed spirited competition among student teams, with the audience cheering passionately for their peers. The Football, Volleyball, and Hockey events not only highlighted the talent of the students but also reinforced the importance of sports in fostering unity, resilience, and holistic development.
