Must read

GAYAJI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday hit out at the Congress and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) for opposing the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls by the Election Commission ahead of the Bihar assembly elections.
Alleging that the state’s demography is changing due to a rise in infiltrators, the Prime Minister said Bihar must be protected from the “buri nazar” of Congress and RJD. He accused both parties of supporting infiltrators to build a vote bank and pursue appeasement politics.
PM Modi further announced that the NDA will soon launch a “Demography Mission,” under which every infiltrator will be expelled from the country.
While addressing the people in Gayaji, PM Modi said, “From the ramparts of the Red Fort, I talked about one more danger, that danger is looming on Bihar, as well as the country. The number of infiltrators is increasing.
“In many areas of Bihar, the demography is changing, and the NDA has resolved that the nation’s future will not be determined by infiltrators. They will not be allowed to take away employment opportunities. We have decided to launch a Demography Mission, which will begin work soon, and every infiltrator will be removed from the country,” he said.
“You tell me, whether infiltrators should remain in the country or not. RJD and Congress want to snatch the rights of people of Bihar ad want to give it to infiltrators, to increase their vote banks. The are doing it for appeasement. We need to save Bihar from ‘buri nazar’ of Congress and RJD,” he stated.
PM Modi on Friday launched and inaugurated several projects worth about Rs 13,000 crore in Gaya, Bihar. Before the event, he also held a roadshow in the city, joined by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy CMs Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Sinha.
Oppn protests against SIR exercise in Bihar
Opposition parties had staged protest outside Parliament against the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar, alleging bias and demanding a parliamentary discussion on the issue.
The protest, led by the INDIA bloc leaders, including Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, and Sonia Gandhi, among others, aimed to highlight concerns over voter suppression and potential electoral manipulation.
The opposition parties have been consistently raising their voices against the SIR exercise, claiming it is an attempt to disenfranchise certain sections of voters. “Loktantra par var” (attack on democracy) and “Stop SIR” were some of the slogans raised during the protest.
The opposition has been demanding a discussion in Parliament to address concerns over the SIR exercise. They are seeking a fair review process to ensure that no genuine voter is left out due to the SIR exercise.
‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader Tejashwi Yadav are conducting a 16-day ‘Voter Adhikar Yatra’ in Bihar, protesting against the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls ahead of the upcoming state elections.
The Voter Adhikar Yatra is being seen as the latest effort by the opposition to highlight concerns over voter disenfranchisement and electoral transparency in the lead-up to the 2025 Bihar Legislative Assembly elections.
