J&K’s schools unite for record-breaking mass PTM under PAIGAM

SRINAGAR: In a landmark moment for community-driven education reform, the Directorate of School Education Kashmir (DSEK) today organised a Mass Parent-Teacher Meeting (PTM) across all schools of the Kashmir Division under its flagship PAIGAM initiative — Policy Action & Implementation for Growth and Awareness in Mentoring NEP-2020 – From Policy to Practice.
Over whelming response of MPTM across 3,561 schools with a participation of 2.93 lakh teachers, parents and students in kashmir division has been recorded
“Education is a shared responsibility — when parents, teachers, and communities work together, every child wins,” said Hon’ble Minister for Education, J&K, Sakeena Masood Itoo, inaugurating the programme from Higher Secondary School DK Marg, Kulgam
This mega event — first announced at the NEP Conference on 22nd July — was designed to enhance parental involvement, review student progress, and engage civil society in collaborative school improvement. Uniform guidelines were issued by DSEK to ensure simultaneous, well-coordinated PTMs at Complex/Cluster level under the supervision of Cluster/Complex Heads.

Total Participants: 2,93,604 (teachers, students, parents, and community members)
Minister & Director Lead from the Front
Honourable Minister of Education,Sakeena Masood Itoo accompanied by Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. G.N Itoo and other officers visited schools in the Shahabad area of Anantnag to interact directly with students, parents, and teachers.
“The PAIGAM initiative is not just an event — it’s a movement to translate the vision of NEP-2020 into meaningful classroom action,” remarked Dr. G.N Itoo.
Interactive & Community-Centric Programmes
Across all venues, PTMs featured:
Welcome addresses by school heads
Briefings on NEP-2020 and its relevance for students
Keynote remarks by PRI members and community leaders
One-to-one parent–teacher consultations
Student-led activities: project exhibitions, debates, quizzes, and thematic presentations such as “My Learning Journey” and “How My Parents Help Me Learn”
Building Partnerships Beyond the Classroom
Community leaders, NGOs, retired educators, and local influencers contributed ideas on:
Strengthening the learning environment
Promoting environmental awareness
Combating drug abuse among youth
Parents were invited to submit feedback through suggestion boxes and forms, ensuring their voices guide continuous school improvement.
Documentation & Follow-Up
Each venue maintained:
Attendance registers
Detailed ATR (Action Taken Reports) for DSEK’s records
Senior officials, including Joint Directors, PO, CAO, CEOs, ZEOs, and officers from educationally backward blocks, attended to ensure inclusivity and accountability.
Vision Ahead
DSEK reaffirmed its commitment to make collaborative educational platforms like the Mass PTM a regular feature for translating NEP-2020’s vision into a positive, inclusive, and participatory learning culture across Kashmir’s schools.
