Srinagar: The heatwave shows no signs of relenting as Srinagar recorded fourth highest day temperature in July in last decade, recording maximum of 34.2°C on Tuesday.
Previously Srinagar recorded 36.2°C on 29 July last year, 35.1°C on July 18, 2021, 34.4°C on July 2016.
A meteorological department official here said that Qazigund recorded 32.6°C,
Kokernag 32.4°C, Kupwara 34.7°C, Gulmarg 24.5°C, Pahalgam 30.0°C, Jammu city 29.0°C, Banihal 29.6°C, Batote 27.5°C, Bhaderwah 31.8°C and Katra 26.0°C.
Regarding forecast from July 1-4, Met said hot and humid weather was expected with possibility of brief spell of rain and thundershower at scattered places.
From July 5-7, MeT said, generally cloudy weather was expected with possibility of intermittent light to moderate rain and thundershower at many places. “Few places may receive intense showers with heavy rain at isolated places of Jammu division.”
From July 8-10, MeT said there is possibility of brief showers at scattered places.
The weatherman said that there is possibility of flash floods at few vulnerable places with landslides, mudslides and shooting stones during July 5-7.
The MeT said that there is rise in water level in rivers/streams/local Nalas and water logging in few low lying areas in J&K.
