SRINAGAR: The Chairman of the Srinagar Chapter of the Cost Accountants of India inaugurated the Kashmir Commerce Olympiad on Saturday at Bemina Degree College.
While inaugurating, CMA Bashir Masoudi, Chairman Srinagar Chapter of Cost Accountants expressed that this type of program is need of the hour to motivate students to join professional courses like CMA.
While addressing the session, the Principal Bemina degree college stated that such programs are beneficial to the commerce students of our college.
Organized in collaboration with the Higher Education Department, Government of Jammu and Kashmir, the Kashmir Commerce Olympiad is designed to raise awareness among commerce students about the vast opportunities available in the field—particularly in the prestigious Cost and Management Accountancy (CMA) course.
The inaugural program included a mentoring session to guide students on career prospects in commerce, followed by a written examination to identify meritorious students. The Olympiad offers a cash prize of Rs 10,000 for the top performer, Rs 5,000 for the second position, and Rs 1,000 each as consolation prizes for the next 15 rank holders.
This initiative, approved by the Director of Higher Education, J&K, is being held across all commerce colleges in Kashmir. Following the successful launch at Bemina, similar sessions will now be conducted in other colleges throughout the region.
