Honour Veteran Educators
HAJIN: The Jammu and Kashmir Teachers Forum (JKTF) and Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), in collaboration with Government Girls High School Hajin, organized a grand farewell ceremony on Wednesday to felicitate Farooq Ahmad Parray, the outgoing Head of Institution (HOI) of Government High School Vijpara, and to pay tribute to the late Ghulam Nabi Parray for his contributions to the Department of Education.
The event was held on the premises of Government Girls High School Hajin.
The function was chaired and attended by several dignitaries, including the Chief Spokesperson of EJAC and General Secretary of JKTF, Mir Bashir Ahmad; HOI Mohd Azam; noted educationist Majeed Majazi; retired Principal Mohd Shafi; Dr. Ali Mohd Nishtar; Mohammad Ashraf Parray; Gh. Mohideen, Dr.Reyaz ul Hassan, Abdul Rashid Dar and Gh. Mohd Teli, along with the entire teaching staff of GHS Hajin.
The primary objective of the programme was to honour Farooq Ahmad Parray for his exceptional service to the education department. He is set to retire on May 31, 2025, after dedicating 38 years of his life to the field of education.
Speaking on the occasion, Mir Bashir Ahmad lauded Parray’s unwavering dedication and outstanding contributions towards the upliftment and development of the education sector in the region. He described Parray as a “pillar of commitment and excellence” who inspired many through his remarkable service.
In tribute to the late Ghulam Nabi Parray, speakers recalled his steadfast dedication to education and his exemplary leadership during one of the most turbulent periods in the region’s history. He was remembered as a true torchbearer of educational values and paid rich tributes by the chief guests, JKTF General Secretary, and other speakers for his lifelong contributions to student welfare and academic excellence.
In addition to the farewell, EJAC also conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award upon two respected educationists — retired Master Gh. Mohd Teli and retired Headmaster Abdul Rashid Dar — in recognition of their invaluable contributions to the Department of Education over the years.
The event concluded with emotional tributes and heartfelt words of gratitude from colleagues, highlighting the legacy of service and dedication left behind by the retiring officers.
