SRINAGAR: The Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) under the leadership of its president Wajahat Durhani held a peaceful protest at Press Colony Srinagar on Friday against the recent tragic killings of innocent tourists and a poor Kashmiri labourer. The protest witnessed participation from all constituents of EJAC, reflecting a unified voice against violence and injustice.
During the protest, EJAC president strongly condemned the incident, expressing deep sorrow and solidarity with the families of the victims. He demanded a special probe into the incident to ensure justice is delivered swiftly and transparently.
Durhani said some anti-social elements are attempting to give this unfortunate incident a divisive narrative of Kashmiri vs. non-Kashmiri and Hindu-Muslim, which is highly condemnable. He appealed to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to ensure the safety and well-being of Kashmiri students and workers residing in various parts of the country, so they are not unfairly targeted or harassed in the aftermath.
On the directions of AJKRKTF President, representatives of the All Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Khel Teachers Forum, Syed Aijaz and Faheem Faisal, actively participated in the protest, lending their support to the call for justice and communal harmony. The EJAC reiterated its commitment to peace, brotherhood, and safeguarding the rights and dignity of every citizen, regardless of caste, creed, or region.
