SC Collegium Approves Proposal To Appoint 2 Judicial Officers As HC Judges
Srinagar: At a ceremony held today in the Convention Centre, Shri Justice Arun Palli was sworn in as the Chief Justice of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh. He made and subscribed to the oath of office before the Lieutenant Governor, UT of J&K, Shri Manoj Sinha.
Born on September 18, 1964, Justice Palli graduated in Commerce and completed his Bachelor of Laws from Panjab University, Chandigarh, in 1988. Justice Palli was designated as a Senior Advocate on April 26, 2007 and served as Amicus Curiae in various contentious matters before the High Court. Justice Palli was elevated to the Bench of the Punjab and Haryana High Court on December 28, 2013. He has also been serving as Executive Chairman of Haryana State Legal Service Authority since 31 May 2023. Justice Palli was nominated as a Member of the Governing Body of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) on October 31, 2023, for a tenure of two years.
Meanwhile the Supreme Court Collegium has approved appointment of two judicial officers, Sanjay Parihar, and Shahzad Azeem, as judges of High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.
The Supreme Court Collegium approved the proposal for appointment of these Judicial Officers as Judges of the High Court in its meeting held on April 16, according to a statement issued by the Apex Court.
Born on December 19, 1968 in Horna Palmar Kishtwar, Sanjay Parihar commenced his judicial career on December 1, 1997. Over the years he has held several pivotal positions including Principal District and Sessions Judge in several districts. He remained Presiding Officer TADA/POTA Court, Anticorruption Court, MACT Jammu, Special Tribunal, Sales Tax Tribunal and Registrar of the High court.
Similarly, Shahzad Azeem entered the judicial service on August 5, 2011, and served among others as the Director of the J&K Judicial Academy and Registrar General of the High Court .
