SRINAGAR: Students from different colleges across Kashmir have raised concern over the ongoing strike by contractual teachers, saying their studies are getting affected badly.
Speaking to Kashmir Reader, the students said that classes have been disrupted for the past several days due to the pen-down strike by contractual teachers. “We are forced to stay at home as there are no regular classes being held,” a student from a degree college in north Kashmir said.
Students urged the authorities to take immediate steps either by resolving the teachers’ issues or making alternative arrangements so that their academic schedule does not suffer further.
“We request the administration to look into the matter seriously. Our future is at stake,” another student, Abdul Basit, said.
The protesting teachers have been demanding the implementation of UGC pay norms and job security. They say they have been working on low salaries for years and want the government to address their genuine demands.
