SRINAGAR: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has introduced Four-Year Undergraduate Programmes (FYUP) in various disciplines to cater to evolving educational needs. The new courses are available in Commerce, Economics, History, Political Science, Public Administration, Sociology, Anthropology, Hindi, Sanskrit, Urdu, Social Work, Philosophy, Biochemistry, and Facilities & Service Management.
Prospective students can choose study centers across almost all government degree colleges in Kashmir, including SKIMS, NIELIT, Composite Regional Centre Srinagar, Kashmir University, and the UTs of Kargil and Ladakh. A special study center at Regional Centre Srinagar offers exclusive programs not available at other Learner Support Centres.
Students interested in IT-based programs such as BCA, MCA, and M.Sc. (IS) can opt for NIELIT Srinagar, which also provides mentorship and training for entrepreneurship in the IT and electronics sector.
Regional Director Dr. A. H. Rizvi emphasized IGNOU’s commitment to providing quality, accessible, and flexible education across Kashmir and Ladakh. Considering requests from stakeholders, the last date for admission to all notified Open and Distance Learning (ODL) and online programs (except semester-based and certificate programs) has been extended until March 31, 2025.
This extension provides additional time for students facing challenges in completing their applications. Additionally, the last date for re-registration for January 2025 has also been extended to March 31, 2025, with a late fee of ₹200 for all ODL and online programs (except semester-based courses).
