Police organize awareness prog on New Criminal Laws in Baramulla

BARAMULLA: On the directions of SSP Baramulla Gurinderpal Singh, Police in Baramulla organized an awareness programme on New Criminal Laws at Govt Degree College Pattan.
The event was chaired by SDPO Pattan Shahjahan-JKPS, accompanied by SHO Police Station Pattan and attended by Principal and staff of said College and other respectables of the area. The event aimed to familiarize stakeholders with key amendments and provisions introduced in the Indian Penal Code, Code of Criminal Procedure and the Indian Evidence Act.
The speakers in the event explained key aspects of the new criminal laws with the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA) respectively. They emphasized that these laws aim to ensure speedy justice for victims and swift punishment for offenders, with specific time frames set for case investigations.
The session was highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions, asking questions, and seeking clarifications on the new legal provisions. The new laws also incorporate modern investigation techniques, utilizing technology to enhance the justice system.
Baramulla Police said it remains committed to its mission in spreading awareness about legal changes and urges citizens to stay informed and co-operate in maintaining law and order.
