SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Students Association on Friday urged Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to reconsider the date of the JKAS Prelims examination, scheduled for February 23, 2025, as it coincides with the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT).
In a statement, the National Convenor of the Association, Nasir Khuehami, highlighted the significant difficulty posed by this clash, which forces aspirants to choose between two major career-defining examinations. “Many candidates have prepared extensively for both exams, and now they are in an unfortunate situation. AFCAT has a strict upper age limit of 26 years, and JKAS allows only six attempts. Missing even one attempt can be a major setback, especially in a region grappling with a severe unemployment crisis,” he said.
Khuehami further pointed out that the JKPSC exam schedule is heavily packed, leaving aspirants with insufficient gaps between papers, adding to their stress. “This has left students disheartened and anxious. Many have reached out to us through phone calls, emails, and messages, expressing their distress over the situation,” the statement read.
Urging prompt action, the Association called upon Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, and the JKPSC Chairman to consider students’ concerns and take necessary steps to revise the JKAS Prelims exam schedule.
“We appeal to the government to address this issue urgently and modify the exam timetable at the earliest to ensure that no aspirant is deprived of a career opportunity. A fair and balanced decision will help ease the burden on hundreds of candidates across Jammu and Kashmir,” the Association added.
