SRINAGAR: Police in Awantipora arrested six gamblers and seized stake money from their possession on Friday.
“Acting on specific information regarding gambling activities at Bahu Awantipora, a Police team of Police Station Awantipora headed by SHO PS Awantipora raided the specific spot and arrested six gamblers,” police said in a statement. They have been identified as Zahoor Ahmad Bhat, Ab Hameed Khan, Mohd Afzal Sheikh, Wazarqt Ahmad Dhobi, Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat, and Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, all residents of Bahu Awantipora.
Officers have seized stake money of Rs 500 and playing cards from their possession. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 21/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Awantipora and an investigation has been initiated, the statement said.
“Person found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per the law,” police said.
