Srinagar: The crescent of Sha’ban-ul- Muazzam has been sighted, Grand Mufti J&K, Mufti Nasir-ul-Islam said.
“Testimony with regard to the sighting of the crescent of Shaban-ul-Moazzam 1446 A.H, was received today on 30 January 2025 A.D, (Thursday),” Islam said, adding, “Accordingly tomorrow i.e January 31, 2025 (Friday) will mark the first day of the (Shaban-ul-Moazzam) month.”
The Grand Mufti in the meanwhile extended his greetings to the whole Muslim Ummah in general and to those particularly in Jammu and Kashmir on the eve and prayed that Almighty Allah bless humankind with his mercy.
Islamic calendar months last either 29 or 30 days, depending on when the crescent moon is sighted.
