Srinagar: Eleven patients from Badhal area of Rajouri are in hospital and two of them are in ICU, officials said on Saturday
Principal GMC Rajouri said that 9 patients in observation were recovering and responding to the treatment. “The two patients admitted in ICU are also haemodynamically stable,” he said.
“The last patient admitted on Thursday was Saima Kousar, an 11 year old girl. Since past 48 hours, we have not received any new patient and all the patients are stable and responding to the treatment,” he said, adding, “We are committed to providing quality healthcare services to all our patients at GMC Rajouri.”
Reports said that an inter-ministerial team led by MHA continued with inquiry to unravel the mystery shrouding 17 deaths from three families in the little over 50 days.
The team consists of experts from the ministries of health and family welfare, agriculture, chemicals and fertilisers and water resources. It is also assisted by experts from animal husbandry, food safety and forensic science labs, reports said.
Also, police have constituted an 11-member SIT headed by the Superintendent of Police (operations) Budhal, Wajahat Hussain, has been constituted keeping in view the sensitivity of the inquest proceeding initiated into the deaths.
On January 16, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah chaired a high-level meeting to discuss the alarming situation.
Highlighting the urgency of the situation, the Chief Minister had directed the health and police departments to expedite their investigations, according to an official communiqué issued on the day.
On December 7 last, five people including four children, died of a mysterious illness. On December 12, a woman and three children died due to an unknown illness.
On January 9, six children of one Mohammad Aslam fell ill, and all of them succumbed to it. The maternal uncle and aunt who lived with Aslam also succumbed to the mysterious illness. (GNS)
