A Tribute To My Paternal Aunt

Must read

Losing a loved one is never easy, but when that person is a beacon of light, their memory and teachings remain etched in our hearts forever. My paternal aunt, Mursa Banoo, who passed away last year at the age of 49 after a brave battle with liver metastasis, was one such soul. Her life was a reflection of piety, compassion, and resilience, leaving behind a legacy that continues to inspire everyone who knew her.

My aunt was a woman of deep faith, devoted to her religious duties and committed to living a life of goodness. Her piety was evident not only in her prayers but also in the way she treated others. She was a pillar of support to many, always there for anyone in need. Young married girls often sought her guidance and confided in her during difficult times. Her kind and helping nature fostered strong relationships with everyone around her, particularly her neighbours, who admired her sincerity and warmth.

Her compassion extended far beyond her immediate circle. She had a special place in her heart for the poor and the needy, always finding ways to help those struggling. Whether by providing financial support, offering food, or simply lending a listening ear, she left a lasting impact on those who received her help during their most difficult times.

Even as she battled cancer, my aunt remained unwavering in her commitment to helping others. While the illness took a toll on her body, it could never diminish her spirit. She continued to inspire others with her wisdom, advice, and lectures on living with grace and purpose. Her strength during this challenging period was extraordinary, embodying resilience and dedication that will remain a lesson for me forever.

In the final month of her life, I had the privilege of accompanying her to PGI Chandigarh. Despite her condition, her wisdom was profound, and I will never forget the life lessons she imparted during this time. Her philosophy on strength, perseverance, and finding peace amidst struggles resonates in my heart even now. She truly lived by her words, embodying resilience until her very last breath.

I vividly remember the moment of her passing. As she lay in her bed, she looked out the window and softly said, “It looks darker outside.” Then she calmly lay down, and a sense of peace washed over her. When I checked her pulse and blood pressure, I realized she had passed away peacefully. In that sacred moment, I recited Quranic verses and prayed for her journey to the Hereafter. It was a serene and tranquil departure—one that everyone hopes for in their final moments.

My aunt’s life was a testament to the power of faith, the importance of kindness, and the strength that lies within each of us, even in the darkest of times. Her unwavering commitment to helping others, her profound wisdom, and her ability to inspire those around her will never be forgotten. Though she is no longer with us, her spirit continues to guide and motivate us to live with purpose, compassion, and resilience.

May Allah forgive her sins, grant her eternal peace and mercy, and elevate her status in Jannah. Ameen.
