Illegal mining: Police seizes 3 vehicles, arrest 3 in Awantipora

SRINAGAR: Continuing its crackdown on illegal mining activities, police have arrested three individuals and seized three vehicles involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals in Awantipora.
A police team from Police Station Khrew, led by the Station House Officer (SHO), conducted an operation in Mandakpal Khrew and apprehended three suspects. The seized vehicles, all tippers, have been identified by their registration numbers: JK13B-8211, JK01M-5270, and JK13F-4742.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Tariq Ahmad Shah, son of Mohd Yaseen Shah, Mohd Ashraf Shah, son of Jalal Din, both residents of Mandakpal, and Nisar Ahmad Ahanger, son of Mohd Kamal, a resident of Sharshali.
In response to the incident, cases have been registered under the relevant sections of the law at Police Station Khrew. Investigations into the matter are ongoing.
Police have warned that individuals found involved in illegal mining and transportation of minerals will be dealt with strictly as per the law. Authorities have also appealed to the public to provide information about criminal activities in their local areas, encouraging them to report suspicious activities to their respective police units.
