Jammu: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today conducted the on-site inspection and reviewed the progress of Tawi Riverfront project.
The Lieutenant Governor directed the officers and implementing agencies to accelerate the pace of work for completion of the prestigious project in a time-bound manner.
Interacting with the media persons, the Lieutenant Governor said: “The work on the first phase of this flagship project under Jammu Smart City is expected to be completed by the month of January, 2025.
Tawi Riverfront project will expand the tourism potential of Jammu. Many other projects and initiatives like Jambu Zoo, Light & Sound Show, Temple of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams etc have already been completed to further increase the tourism potential of Jammu Division.
Around 5000-6000 people are visiting Suchetgarh and Tirumala Tirupati Temple every day. The number is increasing during weekend. Efforts are being made to create more such destinations in Jammu city and Jammu region with the assistance of the Government of India. I congratulate Jammu Smart City, it was a difficult project, I hope that the people of Jammu will enjoy the Tawi Riverfront,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor was accompanied by Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Sh Shaleen Kabra, Additional Chief Secretary; Jal Shakti Department; Dr Mandeep Bhandari, Principal Secretary to Lieutenant Governor and Ms. Mandeep Kaur, Commissioner/Secretary, Housing & Urban Development Department.
Meanwhile Sinha today met the J&K Senior Men’s Football Team participating in the ongoing 78th Senior National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy-2024, at Raj Bhawan.
The Lieutenant Governor congratulated the players and the coaching staff for their remarkable performances during the group stage and extended his best wishes for the future matches.
He also commended the J&K Sports Council for organizing rigorous training camps and providing requisite facilities, technical guidance and support to the team for its Santosh Trophy campaign.
J&K Senior Men’s Football Team competed in Group-A alongside Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh, and Punjab and delivered commanding performances while remaining unbeaten in the group stage. The team has qualified for the final round and will now compete in Telangana from December 14, 2024.
