Police crack down on drug peddlers, illegal mining in B’pora

BANDIPORA: The Bandipora police have intensified their efforts against anti-social activities, resulting in the arrest of four drug peddlers and the recovery of six kilograms of contraband substances. Authorities also seized 12 vehicles involved in illegal mining activities and apprehended three gamblers in various locations across the district this month.
“As part of their ongoing operations, the police also confiscated movable property worth lakhs from two notorious drug peddlers under the NDPS Act. This includes a scooty (registration No. JK15B-3917) linked to Case FIR No. 162/2024 and a Royal Enfield bike (registration No. JK15B-9081) associated with Case FIR No. 145/2024 from PS Sumbal,” police said in a statement.
In addition to their enforcement activities, Bandipora police are actively engaging with the community. They held meetings with trade unions, transporters, Imams, and civil society members in Bandipora Town, where participants raised various concerns. The police assured attendees that their genuine issues would be addressed with the relevant officers for prompt resolution. A meeting was also held with serving and retired police personnel in the district this month.
