KUPWARA: Police in Kupwara have seized two tippers and a JCB, arresting their drivers for their involvement in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals.
“Acting on reliable information, a police team from Police Station Lalpora conducted the operation in the Darpora area of Lolab, where they confiscated the vehicles along with the illegally mined material. The arrested drivers have been taken into custody at the police station,” police said in a statement, adding that a case has been registered under FIR No. 75/2024, and an investigation is underway.
The J&K Police are committed to enforcing stringent measures against illegal mining to protect the environment and preserve natural resources, the statement added.
