Must read

GANDERBAL: In a surprise visit on Saturday, MLA for Kangan Constituency, Mian Mehar Ali, exposed glaring irregularities and neglect at the Mini Maternity Centre Watlar in Ganderbal district. The MLA’s inspection revealed a shocking state of affairs, with numerous employees absent from duty and critical medical equipment left in disrepair.
Upon arriving at the centre at approximately 10:15 AM, the MLA was dismayed to find that a significant number of employees were missing from their duties and many of these employees were drawing salaries from the centre while actually working at other institutions, effectively rendering the maternity centre dysfunctional.
Ali also reviewed of the medical equipment uncovered serious deficiencies. The X-ray machine, procured several years ago, remained disassembled and rusting due to a lack of maintenance. The ultrasound machine was also found to be operational only once every 15 days, severely limiting access to essential healthcare services for local residents.
The MLA was further appalled by the lack of hygiene and sanitation at the centre. Bird droppings were scattered throughout the facility, posing a significant health risk to patients and staff.
Later, Mian Mehar Ali met with local residents to address their concerns and assure them that the issues would be raised with higher authorities for immediate resolution. He emphasized the importance of providing adequate healthcare facilities to the community and expressed his commitment to ensuring that the Mini Maternity Centre Watlar is restored to full functionality.
