Police recover abducted woman in Kupwara; suspect arrested

SRINAGAR: The police in Kupwara have successfully recovered an abducted woman and arrested the individual responsible for the crime.
“On October 13, 2024, Police Post Kalaroos received a written complaint regarding the disappearance of a local woman (name withheld) since October 12. Following this, a case (FIR No. 245/2024) was registered at Police Station Kupwara, and an investigation commenced,” police said in a statement.
The investigation revealed that the woman had been kidnapped by Fazal u Rehman War, son of Abdul Haq War, a resident of Doniwari Dangiwah, Rafiabad. Acting swiftly, police recovered the woman from the custody of the accused, who was arrested at the scene. After completing all necessary medico-legal procedures, the woman was safely returned to her family. Further investigation is ongoing, the statement said.
“Community members are encouraged to cooperate with law enforcement in combating social crimes in their neighborhoods. The police reaffirm their commitment to continuing efforts to address and prevent such issues,” police said.
