EJAC optimistic about constructive engagement with new J&K govt

Seeks resolution of long-standing employees’ issues

SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC), under the leadership of its president Wajahat Hussain Durrani, has expressed optimism about engaging constructively with the newly formed government to address long-pending demands of government employees. Among the key issues EJAC seeks to resolve are the regularization of daily wagers and the restoration of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS).
Speaking during a condolence meeting in Hajin, Bandipora, Durrani highlighted EJAC’s unwavering commitment to improving the welfare of government workers. He emphasized the importance of the new government addressing these unresolved concerns. “The new dispensation presents an opportunity to address challenges that have persisted for years. We expect the government to prioritize workers’ welfare and ensure their rightful entitlements are restored,” he said.
Durrani also extended condolences to District General Secretary EJAC Bandipora, Sajad Ahmad Wagay, following the passing of his mother. Additionally, he visited the home of renowned writer and teacher Gh Hassan Taskeen to offer condolences on behalf of EJAC.

EJAC said it continues to advocate for the regularization of daily wagers and the restoration of OPS, describing these as non-negotiable rights that affect the livelihoods of thousands of employees and their families. “We will engage tirelessly with the government to ensure these demands are met,” Durrani said.
The EJAC leadership extended its best wishes to the new administration, expressing hope for a collaborative approach in addressing the legitimate concerns of employees across Jammu and Kashmir.
