Wildlife department clarifies on video clip showing wild boars roaming on boulevard, peripheries

SRINAGAR: The Office of the Wildlife Warden, Central Division Srinagar, has issued a clarification regarding a viral video showing wild boars roaming along Boulevard and Foreshore Road.
In an official statement, the department emphasized that these wild boars have historically inhabited Dachigam National Park and its surrounding conservation reserves since the time of the Maharajas. During the fruit harvesting season, these animals often venture outside the park’s periphery in search of food.
In response to the situation, the Department of Wildlife Protection has dispatched rescue teams equipped with tranquilizing guns, nets, trapping cages, and other necessary tools to guide the wild boars back to nearby forests.
The public is urged not to panic and to avoid spreading misinformation. The department assures that every effort will be made to prevent any confrontations between the animals and the public.
To ensure safety and protect agricultural crops, multiple teams have been deployed. The public is encouraged to cooperate with the department and adhere to the guidelines provided by the rescue teams on the ground.
