KULGAM: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kulgam, AtharAamir Khan on Monday chaired a meeting of the District Level Committee under the Narco Coordination Centre (NCORD) to discuss various measures aimed at curbing drug abuse and narcotic trade in the district.
A thorough discussion was held on several issues related to drug addiction, areas of concern, hotspots of drug use, and the actions taken by the concerned departments to combat the menace of drugs.
The meeting also focused on the efforts of enforcement agencies in addressing drug abuse and narcotic trafficking within the district.
The DC directed the officers to put in efforts to make more Panchayats drug free, and it was informed that 38 Panchayats comprising 62 villages in the district have been declared drug-free till date.
It was also shared that 18 drug peddlers were arrested, and 13 FIRs were registered in the months of August and September.
The DC instructed the concerned officials to convene regular meetings of Tehsil and Gram Panchayat level committees and involve local youth and other stakeholders in meeting for better outcome.
It was also shared that the district has achieved 100% target in the installation of CCTV cameras, and were directed to achieve 100% target in CBS.
The meeting was attended by ADC, Viqar Ahmad Giri; ACR, ACP, SDM, CMO, DSWO, Tehsildars, Dy.SP and other NCORD Committee members.
