KCCI Holds 90th Annual General Meeting, Celebrates 100th Anniversary

President Javid Ahmad Tenga presides over meeting, updates members on chamber’s activities, honours outstanding exporter

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) held its 90th Annual General Meeting on September 21, 2024, at Hotel The Kaboo in Wazir Bagh, Srinagar. The meeting was attended by a large number of members, including past presidents, and was presided over by President Javid Ahmad Tenga.
Secretary General, Faiz Ahmad Bakshi, presented the Annual Administration Report. Notable attendees included Mr. Baldev Prakash, Managing Director/CEO of Jammu & Kashmir Bank Ltd; Mr. Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner of the Industries & Commerce Department; and Mr. Vijay Bidhuri, Divisional Commissioner of Kashmir. This meeting was particularly significant as it marked the 100th anniversary of the KCCI, which is recognized as the fourth oldest chamber of commerce in India, having been founded in 1924.
Members were updated on the chamber’s activities since the last Annual General Meeting held on December 30, 2023. The house approved the Administration Report, the Auditors Report, the Statement of Income & Expenditure, the Budget for 2024-2025, and the appointment of auditors.
Mr. Zahoor Hussain Alamgir, owner of M/s Alamgir Papier Machie House, was honored for his outstanding performance in exports, recently recognized by Mr. Giriraj Singh, Minister of Textiles, Government of India.
During the meeting, members raised various issues requiring urgent government attention, noting that some matters had been pending resolution for quite some time.
President Tenga reassured attendees of KCCI’s ongoing efforts to address the challenges faced by different sectors of the economy and committed to pursuing the raised issues with renewed determination.
The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the chair, office bearers, and the members who attended in significant numbers.
