Urs of Sufi saint Mohammad Khar observed with religious fervour in Bandipora

HAJIN: The annual Urs of the revered Sufi saint, popularly known as Mohammad Khaar (RA), was observed with great religious fervour in Shahgund village of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Sunday. Thousands of devotees gathered at the Ziyarat (shrine) of Mohammad Khar (RA) to seek blessings and pray for peace and harmony in the Union Territory. The Urs marked by deep spirituality and devotion, saw the participation of wellknown Glokars (traditional singers), including Abdul Majeed Gania and other senior Kashmiri singers, who paid glowing tributes to the Sufi saint through soulful renditions.

Throughout the day, special sessions of the recitation of the Holy Quran, Naat, and prayers were held, creating an atmosphere of spiritual reflection and devotion. The event saw attendees praying for peace, not just in J&K and across the entire country. The Urs was organized by the Mohammad Khaar Memorial Trust, which hosts the celebration every year. Speaking to reporters, the chairman of the Trust said that this annual celebration is a special moment of reflection for the devotees who come from all walks of life to seek the blessings of the revered saint. The event is a testimony to the enduring faith people have in his teachings, he said. The occasion concluded with special prayers for the well-being and prosperity of the people.
