Woman arrested; stolen property recovered

SRINAGAR: Police in Anantnag solved a theft case by arresting an accused lady involved in the commission of a crime and recovered stolen items from her possession.
Police said they acted swiftly on a complaint filed by Ms Shahizda Akhter, wife of late Ghulam Nabi Parray, a resident of Shipora Larkipora, regarding the theft of golden ornaments. “A case vide FIR No. 181/2024 was registered and an investigation was promptly launched. During the investigation, Rehana, wife of Majid Dar and resident of Minward, was brought in for questioning. During questioning, she admitted the commission of crime and on her revelation, the stolen items, including, 01 Gold Bangle, 04 Gold Rings, 01 Jhumka, 01 Chain with a Pendulum worth approximately Rs 3 lakhs, were recovered from her residence,” police said in a statement.
“Further investigation, led to the recovery of additional golden ornaments from the accused’s house, including 02 Gold Bangles, 01 Jhumka, 01 Gold Chain, 02 Pendulums, 01 Pair of Earrings, 01 Pair of Tops, 01 Gold Ring, valued approximately Rs 4.5 lakhs, bringing the total recoveries to Rs 7.5 lakhs,” the statement said, adding that the accused has been arrested and the investigation is going on.
