Less than 15 days to update Aadhaar card for free: Here’s how to do it online

NEW DELHI: The government is strongly advising citizens to update their Aadhaar cards every 10 years, with a free update service available until September 14, 2024. The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has extended this deadline multiple times over the past year, but there is no confirmation of further extensions.
Aadhaar, a 12-digit unique identification number, is widely used for various purposes, including income tax filing, educational admissions, and travel.
Regular updates ensure the legitimacy and accuracy of the information, which is essential for accessing government services and preventing fraud.
How to update Aadhar card details
Citizens can update their Aadhaar details online through the UIDAI website (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/) by logging in with their Aadhaar number and a one-time password.
Visit the official UIDAI website (https://myaadhaar.uidai.gov.in/)
Log in using your 12-digit Aadhaar number
Enter the One-Time Password (OTP) sent to your registered mobile number
Review your existing identity and address details in your profile
If updates are needed, select the appropriate document type from the drop-down menu
Upload a scanned copy of the original document (JPEG, PNG, or PDF format, less than 2 MB)
Submit your update request
Note down the Service Request Number (SRN) provided for tracking your update progress
This online process is for updating address details, Biometric details, name, mobile number, and photograph updates require visiting a UIDAI-authorized center. The free update service is available until September 14, 2024. After the deadline, a standard fee of Rs. 50 will apply for updates.
