DGP sanctions fin assistance, scholarships to police families, serving personnel

SRINAGAR: In a series of orders issued by the Police Headquarters, Director General of Police (DGP) J&K, R.R. Swain, has sanctioned financial assistance and scholarships to dependents/wards of police fallen heroes and serving police personnel.
Under the first order, the DGP has sanctioned financial assistance of Rs. one lakh each to support the marriage ceremonies of five daughters of J&K Police fallen heroes. The assistance has been sanctioned out of the J&K Police Pariwar Fund.
In another order, the DGP has sanctioned scholarships to 16 wards of martyrs pursuing education in various classes. The scholarships have been allocated from the Central Police Education Fund and include Rs 18,750 for a PhD student, Rs 15,000 each for five students pursuing Master’s courses, Rs 12,500 each for six students pursuing Bachelor’s degrees and Rs 7,500 each for two students studying in lower classes.
Additionally, the DGP has sanctioned meritorious scholarships to 190 wards of serving police personnel who have achieved academic excellence in the class 10th Annual Examination during the 2023-24 academic session. The meritorious scholarship has been sanctioned from the Central Police Welfare Fund and includes Rs 6,000 each for 119 wards who have secured 90% and above marks and Rs 4,000 each for 71 wards who have secured above 80% marks.
The DGP’s orders aim to support the education and well-being of police families and serving personnel, recognizing their contributions to the security and safety of the nation.
