APSCC candidate urges majority community to vote for Sikh representation in Kashmir

SRINAGAR: The All Parties Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) candidate for the Central Shalteng assembly constituency, Indumeet Singh has reiterated the committee’s appeal to the members of majority community to vote and support him so that the message of brotherhood and amity emanates from Kashmir valley.
Singh in a statement said the same will “negate the propaganda of the elements who have been defaming Kashmiris for being anti-national and communal”.
Singh, who submitted his nomination form on Thursday, said the people should reject the traditional political parties and give a chance to the APSCC-backed candidates so that there is a mitigation of their problems. “It is imperative to send a message to the outside world that Kashmiris are peace loving and believe in co-existence adding that same is possible only when Sikhs are elected on three seats of Kashmir where they are fighting the elections,” he said.
APSCC Chairman, Jagmohan Singh Raina said, “Although Sikhs suffered huge economic losses in the past three decades no step was taken to provide them relief. Sikh youth were denied jobs under a job package sanctioned for the non-migrant people of Kashmir.”
Raina said since the political parties have “ditched” the masses in the past time for change has come. “Sikh candidates should be given a chance so that they mitigate the problems of youth and take steps to give due rights to the community members,” he said.
