SHG members demand Block Office at Gund, Ganderbal

GANDERBAL: Members of the Self-Help Groups (SHGs) under the National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM) Umeed program have demanded the establishment of a block office at Gund in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district, citing the inconvenience of existing blocks located far from their area.
The SHG members, primarily women, highlighted the difficulties they face in accessing resources and support due to the distant location of existing blocks. They said that a local block office would significantly enhance their productivity, facilitate easier access to resources, and foster community development.
During a meeting, the SHG members expressed their concerns and challenges in travelling long distances to reach existing blocks. They urged authorities to consider their request and take necessary actions to establish a block office at Gund, which is already recognized on the NRLM website and in official papers.
The NRLM Umeed program aims to empower rural women through self-help groups, promoting livelihoods and entrepreneurship. The demand for a block office at Gund is a crucial step towards achieving these goals and ensuring the program’s success in the region.
