Cyber Police Handwara cracks down on online scams; freezes, recovers Rs 1.27 lakh

SRINAGAR: The Cyber Unit Handwara has achieved significant success in its ongoing efforts to combat financial fraud, freezing /recovered Rs 1,27,000 in two separate online scam cases.
In both cases, the victims were lured by a web links, promising hefty returns. Police said the scam involved convincing the victims to invest money with the promise of high returns. “Initially, small tasks with quick returns were provided to bait the victims. Gradually, they were asked to invest larger amounts, which led to significant financial losses,” police said in a statement, adding that the Cyber Unit Handwara promptly analysed and recovered Rs 11,000 and Rs 1,16,000 has been freezed.
“J&K Police again warns citizens to be vigilant against such scams. No legitimate investment scheme offers quick and substantial returns. The public is advised to avoid falling for such fraudulent schemes and to invest wisely,” police said.
