SRINAGAR: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) in Jammu and Kashmir has launched an extensive cleanliness campaign across all sports zones within the Union Territory. This initiative aims to raise awareness among school children, young individuals, and the broader community about the importance of cleanliness.

The Swachhta Pakhwada activities included a diverse range of events such as sports activities, debates, seminars, plantation drives, essay writing and painting competitions, all centered around the theme of cleanliness. These events were conducted in all 20 districts of J&K, engaging participants in various educational and practical activities.

Director of the Department, Subash Chander Chibber, emphasized this year’s theme, urging the tech-savvy youth to use their social media platforms to spread awareness about the importance of a clean environment for a healthy and disease-free lifestyle. Chibber praised the field staff for their dedication and successful execution of these activities, noting the positive impact they have had on fostering a culture of cleanliness and environmental consciousness among J&K’s youth.

In many districts, the day began with a pledge-taking ceremony under the Swachhta Pakhwada banner. This was followed by cleanliness drives and other engaging activities, attended by numerous students and field staff. Participants joined with enthusiasm to promote hygiene and cleanliness in their communities, reflecting the spirit of the campaign.
