SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Rural Livelihoods Mission (JKRLM) is preparing to host the 3rd edition of SARAS Aajeevika 3.0, a vibrant showcase of art, craft, culture, and cuisine, from August 3 to 12 at Zabarwan Park, Boulevard Road, Dal Lake, Srinagar. This ten-day event aims to celebrate India’s rich diversity and promote local products.
Officials highlighted that the Aajeevika Mela serves as a platform for women artisans from rural self-help groups to exhibit their exceptional talents and products. Attendees can look forward to a wide range of handloom and handicraft items, including textiles, pottery, woodwork, metalwork, and paintings.
The SARAS Aajeevika Mela is significant for empowering rural women by providing them with an opportunity to showcase and sell their products directly. It also offers a chance for women to understand customer preferences, enhance their products, and improve their marketing skills.
The Mela will exclusively feature handicrafts, handlooms, and natural food products crafted by rural women, highlighting their entrepreneurial spirit. Daily workshops will be held for ten different organizations to further develop the skills of women from self-help groups.
Beyond the exhibition stalls, the event will include traditional performances, entertainment, and cultural activities to engage visitors of all ages. Dedicated play areas for children will ensure a comprehensive and enjoyable experience, celebrating the vibrancy of rural India while fostering economic empowerment and cultural exchange.
The SARAS Aajeevika Mela is set to be a must-visit celebration, offering a unique opportunity to explore rural India’s culture and entrepreneurship while supporting local artisans.
