SRINAGAR: Professor (Dr) Rajat Gupta, former Director National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar and a Senior Professor in the Mechanical Engineering Department at NIT Silchar since 1996, has superannuated as of Wednesday, July 31, 2024. He served as the Director NIT Srinagar from 2011 to 2016, where he played a key role in streamlining operations and restoring a focus on academics and harmony.
At NIT Srinagar, Prof Gupta introduced innovative programs, and secured Ph.D. scholarships from the Ministry. He was known for his excellent professionalism with an extraordinary attitude and approach, even when dealing with difficult situations.
While expressing his gratitude to NIT Srinagar, Prof Gupta said, “Today I am culminating my official journey of about 41 years at REC/NIT Silchar. The Almighty God gave me an opportunity to be associated with the NIT Srinagar family for five years during 2011 to 2016.”
“Without a doubt, I spent the best part of my career at NIT Srinagar. I want to take this opportunity to express my deepest gratitude to all of you for your unconditional love, support, and encouragement. I will cherish this for the rest of my life,” the former Director said in his message.
Director NIT Srinagar, Prof A. Ravinder Nath extended his best wishes to Prof Gupta for his life after retirement. This new chapter would bring Prof. Gupta personal satisfaction and happiness.
