JIM&WS team scales two high peaks in Ladakh, creates history after 14 years

SRINAGAR: A team from the Jammu and Kashmir-based Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering and Winter Sports (JIM&WS) has achieved a remarkable feat by scaling two mountain peaks above 6,600 meters in Ladakh, breaking a 14-year record.

Led by Colonel Hem Chandra Singh, Principal of JIM&WS, the team successfully summited Mount Chamsar (6,630 meters) on July 25 and Mount Lunser (6,666 meters) on July 27 in the Tso Morari Region of Ladakh.

This achievement not only marks a record-breaking climb but also marks the first successful snowboarding attempt on Mount Chamser (6,630 meters), the institute said. The team completed the expeditions in a remarkable three days, showcasing their expertise and teamwork.

The successful summits are a testament to the dedication and skill of the JIM&WS team, and their accomplishment is sure to inspire future generations of mountaineers.
