IGNOU launches BA in Micro Small and Medium Enterprises prog

NEW DELHI: The Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) has announced the launch of the Bachelor of Arts in Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (BAMSME) programme through its School of Vocational Education and Training (SOVET). The candidates who wish to opt for this programme can apply through the official website of IGNOU — ignouadmission.samarth.edu.in. Applications for the July 2024 session are now open.
The BAMSME programme has been launched targeting individuals who have completed their 10+2 education. This initiative aims to equip students with the knowledge and skills needed to establish and manage new business ventures.
The BAMSME programme will be offered via the open and distance learning (ODL), making it accessible to a broader audience. The programme is designed to be flexible, with a minimum duration of three years, spanning six semesters, and a maximum duration of six years. Students will accumulate a total of 120 credits, with 20 credits per semester. The medium of instruction is English, and the programme fee is set at Rs 5,100 per year, amounting to Rs. 15,300 for the entire three-year course.
According to a IGNOU statement, the primary objectives of the programme are to facilitate the successful and profitable operation of business enterprises, enhance managerial skills, and provide an innovative, competency-based approach to entrepreneurship education. The programme will cover crucial aspects of business operations, including finance and marketing, and aim to develop leadership qualities essential for both self-empowerment and the empowerment of others.
