Heatwave: KCCI urges admin to order closure of schools

Must read

SRINAGAR: The Kashmir Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) has appealed to the administration to close down schools in the Kashmir Valley due to the ongoing heatwave, which has caused historically high temperatures in the region.
The KCCI in a statement raised concerns over the impact of the extreme heat on school-going children, particularly given reports from parents about power outages in schools, which prevent the operation of coolers and fans.
The Chamber has urged the administration to prioritize the health and well-being of students by considering a temporary closure of schools until the weather conditions improve.
In discussions with high-ranking officials, the KCCI received assurances that the matter is under active consideration and that a decision will be made soon. The Chamber’s appeal reflects widespread concern among parents about the adverse effects of the heatwave on their children’s health and safety.
