JIM & WS successfully concludes 149th basic mountaineering course

SRINAGAR: The Jawahar Institute of Mountaineering & Winter Sports (JIM & WS) has successfully wrapped up its 149th Basic Mountaineering Course, marking another milestone in its commitment to fostering mountaineering expertise among enthusiasts. The course, conducted from June 28 to July 21, 2024, witnessed enthusiastic participation from 70 trainees hailing from various corners of the nation.

Out of the 70 participants, an impressive 69 successfully completed the rigorous training program, underscoring their dedication and the effectiveness of the curriculum offered by JIM & WS. The course curriculum was designed to equip the trainees with a comprehensive set of skills essential for mountaineering and included training in rope knots, anchoring, belaying, climbing techniques, casualty evacuation, snow and ice craft, and more. Additionally, participants benefited from theoretical sessions covering mountain terminology, safety protocols, and practical rescue operations.

The training concluded with evaluations that included written examinations and viva voce assessments, ensuring that each participant gained a thorough understanding of the material covered throughout the course.
